1st Down for Fitness
Students spend the afternoon learning how to incorporate healthy eating and physical activity into their daily lives at the annual 1st Down for Fitness event. Redskins players and Strength and Conditioning Coaches lead the students in the Redskins pre-game warm-up before breaking the students out into groups for the activity stations including an obstacle course, tug-of-war, speed ladders, and sleds. Finally, the students spend time with Redskins Team Nutritionist learning about the food pyramid. Each student finishes the day with a healthy lunch provided by Subway and a goody bag filled with Redskins items including a pedometer. Click here to watch Santana Moss’ Live United Fitness PSA.

	What Moves U The What Moves U Challenge is getting kids across the country up and active for 60 minutes every day. Although the Challenge takes 6 weeks, we’re helping schools create an active and healthy lifestyle for kids that will last a lifetime. For more information, please click here.

Redskins Youth Fitness Zones
To help reverse the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF) and the United Way of America (UWA) opened the first Redskins Youth Fitness Zone specifically designed for children ages 6-14 in Virginia in October 2007. Redskins players led 100 area kids in a “fitness fair” to experience the new equipment and learn more about the benefits of good nutrition and health. Since then, two additional Youth Fitness Zones have been opened (one in VA and one in MD) that utilize the HOPSports Training System. Youth Fitness Zones are interactive spaces for kids that features age and interest-appropriate workout equipment designed to make exercising feel like playtime with the use of video gaming and interactive lesson plans.
